QUICK ANSWER

What is Tidy Blocks?

Tidy Blocks is an arrow block puzzle game in your browser where you tap painted toy blocks to slide them off a play mat in the direction of their arrows. A block with anything in its lane bumps back and still uses a move, and each level gives you only 3 moves more than the fewest possible. Across 60 levels, from 4 to 61 blocks, bolted blocks, baskets, turntables and tunnels join in, and there is no timer, so it suits calm play and young puzzlers.

How do you play Tidy Blocks?

Tap a block and it slides the way its arrow points. If the lane is clear, it leaves the mat; if another block, a bolted block or a turntable is in the way, it bumps and slides back. Every tap uses one move, bumps included, and the level is lost as soon as the moves left cannot clear every block. Later chapters add grey bolted blocks that never move, baskets that swallow blocks, turntables that turn the arrows beside them a quarter turn clockwise, and paired tunnels that send a block out of its twin.

Tips & strategy

  1. Follow the arrow to the edge of the mat before you tap: any block, bolted block or turntable on that line means a bump.
  2. Start with the outer row: an edge block whose arrow points off the mat is always free and opens lanes behind it.
  3. On turntable levels, clear every free block before you turn: each turn costs a move, and fewer neighbours are easier to track.
  4. A block heading straight into a basket counts as tidied even in the middle of the mat, so check arrows that point at a basket.
  5. Watch the star meter above the mat: it shows the stars you can still reach, so you see at once when a bump costs one.

Tidy Blocks FAQ

Does a bump cost a move in Tidy Blocks?

Yes. Every tap uses one move, even when the block hits something, slides back and stays on the mat. Each level gives you only 3 moves more than the fewest possible (4 on level 1), so after three bumps there is no room for another. Follow the arrow to the edge of the mat before you tap.

Why does the Out of moves card appear before the board is cleared?

You lose as soon as the moves left are fewer than the fewest moves still needed to clear the board. The game checks this after every tap, so the Out of moves card appears right away instead of letting you play on. Try again puts every block back and refills the moves, and the best stars you already earned are kept.

How do turntables work in Tidy Blocks?

Tapping a turntable turns the arrows of the blocks on its four sides a quarter turn clockwise, and the turn uses one move. Four turns bring the arrows back to where they started. A turntable with no block beside it does nothing and costs no move, and like a bolted block it stops any block that slides into it.

What happens when a block slides into a basket or a tunnel in Tidy Blocks?

A basket swallows the block and it counts as tidied, even in the middle of the mat, and baskets never fill up. A tunnel sends the block out of the other tunnel with the same colour and mark, a blue moon or an amber star, and the block keeps sliding the same way until it leaves the mat or bumps into something.

How does Tidy Blocks calculate star ratings for par finishes?

Clear the mat in the fewest possible moves without pressing Hint. Every move over that number and every hint counts as one extra: up to 2 extras still give 2 stars, and more give 1 star. The star meter above the mat shows the stars you can still reach while you play, and the level map keeps your best result for each level.

What does the Hint button show in Tidy Blocks?

Hint lights up a block whose lane is clear right now and points at it with a hand. When no block can leave, it lights the turntable to turn instead. Following hints always clears the level in the fewest moves, but each hint counts against your stars just like an extra move, so it is best kept for big boards.

How many levels are there in Tidy Blocks?

There are 60 levels in 5 chapters of 12: Playroom with arrows only, Workshop with bolted blocks, Garden with baskets, Fairground with turntables and Starlight with tunnels. Boards grow from 4 blocks on level 1 to 61 on level 60, and each level unlocks when you clear the one before it.
