What is Road Eater?
Road Eater is a side-scrolling physics driving game in the browser: you race a buggy away from a giant monster that eats the road one metre at a time. The Eater is a real position on the track that keeps speeding up, so you hold the gas, tilt the car in the air and switch between three morphs — Crawler wheels for 55° climbs, a Glider jet for lava gaps and Magnet wheels for walls and ceilings — all fed by a 100-point Morph Core. Each of the 20 levels lasts one to two minutes and plays with a keyboard, a gamepad or touch pedals.

How do you play Road Eater?
Hold gas to drive right; brake to slow down or reverse. Press JUMP to vent the core and hop over boulders (1.1 s recharge). Lava snakes burst out of the road ahead or behind: jump them or their fireballs, and land on a head to stomp it for 25 coins. In the air, tilt so you land on your wheels. The Road Eater starts 105–140 m behind and keeps speeding up. From level 3 you equip a morph (two from level 6); each costs 8 energy to switch on and drains the core, which refills on the ground. Reach the gate to escape.
Tips & strategy
- Turn Glider on only after you leave the ramp: at 27 energy per second a full core lasts under 4 seconds.
- Switch Crawler on before a 55° wall starts; normal wheels lose grip on anything steeper than about 45°.
- Shaking ground, glowing jaws and edge warnings come 1.5 s early: stop fully or go flat out, and jump snakes and fireballs.
- Hit JUMP about one car length before a boulder at full speed, a bit later when you are slow; a press just before landing still counts.
- Fold the morph as soon as you are back on plain road: the core only refills while you drive in base form.
- Caught late in a level? Continue from the last checkpoint flag: up to 2 times per run, with the Eater pushed back to 55 m.

Road Eater FAQ
How fast is the Road Eater, and can you outrun it?
Yes, if you keep moving. It starts 105–140 m behind you at about 10.5 m/s in level 1 and up to about 17 m/s in the last chapter, speeding up slightly every second, while your buggy tops out near 23 m/s. Stopping at set pieces is what lets it close in; under 35 m the screen pulses red and its jaws appear behind you.
How do you get over the boulders in Road Eater?
Press JUMP — Space, the up-arrow button on touch screens or A on a gamepad — a car length or two before the rock. The air burst lifts the buggy about 2 m and carries it over 15 m at full speed; it recharges in 1.1 seconds and uses no Morph Core energy. Driving into a boulder never wrecks the car, but it stops you dead while the Eater keeps coming.
Which morph should I equip for each level of Road Eater?
Follow the level card: modules the level cannot be finished without are marked NEEDED and stay locked in. Crawler is for 55° walls and rubble, Glider for lava gaps of 20–32 m, Magnet for purple walls, loops and overhead rails. From level 6 you can carry two at once, so the free slot is your choice for the optional routes.
Why does the car crash or get stuck in Road Eater?
Flipping over alone does not end the run. You lose when the roof hits the ground faster than about 9.5 m/s, when the front slams a wall above 20 m/s, when you touch lava or an active hazard, or when you stay upside down for 4.5 seconds. While stuck, a countdown appears and tilting hard rolls the buggy back onto its wheels.
How do you get three stars on a Road Eater level?
One star for reaching the gate, two if the Eater is still at least 45–65 m behind when you cross it (the exact distance is on the level card), and three if you also picked up 60% of the level's Echo Shards. Each level has 4–10 shards, so you can miss a few and still earn the full set.
What does the Magnet morph do on walls and ceilings?
It grabs any purple rail within about 4 m, turns the wheels toward it and makes that rail your floor, so you can drive up a vertical wall or along an overhead rail upside down. It burns 16 energy per second; when the rail ends or the core empties, gravity returns and the buggy rolls back upright before it lands.
What do the lava snakes do in Road Eater, and can you stomp them?
Yes: land on a snake from above and it is stunned for 25 coins. From level 4 they burst out of the road in three ways — lungers slither straight at you, spitters rear up ahead and send a fireball sliding along the road, and from level 12 ambushers strike from behind. Shaking ground, a hiss and an edge-of-screen warning come at least 1.5 seconds before each attack, and one jump clears a snake or its fireball.
Do you need upgrades or a new car to finish Road Eater?
No. All 20 levels are tested with the starting ARC-01 and no upgrades. Coins from escapes (100, plus 25 per extra star and 50 for a first clear) buy small capped boosts — engine, grip, suspension and core, five steps each from 150 to 900 coins — and three more cars that open after levels 5, 10 and 15.
