QUICK ANSWER

What is Paddle Duel?

Paddle Duel is a local two-player paddle game for one screen: one player defends the top edge, the other the bottom, and the first to 7 points wins. Every return makes the ball 7% faster, up to 2.6 times its starting speed, and where the ball meets your paddle sets its angle, so rallies turn frantic within seconds. There is no computer opponent: it is made for two people sharing a keyboard, phone or tablet.

How do you play Paddle Duel?

Player 1 (pink) defends the top edge and Player 2 (purple) the bottom edge of the same screen. After a 3-2-1 countdown the ball launches from the center, toward a different player each point. Slide your paddle to send it back: a center hit returns it straight, and hits near the edge angle it up to about 60 degrees. Each return makes the ball 7% faster, up to 2.6 times its starting speed, and the speed resets every point. Let the ball past your edge and your rival scores. First to 7 points wins.

Tips & strategy

  1. Hit the ball with the outer part of your paddle to angle it toward the side your rival is not covering.
  2. Side walls do not slow the ball, so a bank shot arrives just as fast — only from a new angle.
  3. Use the 3-2-1 countdown to center your paddle — the serve can go up to 30 degrees either way.
  4. On a touch screen you do not need to grab the paddle: hold anywhere in your half and it slides to your finger.
  5. On a phone, lay it flat and sit facing each other — the top player’s score and labels face them.

Paddle Duel FAQ

Can you play Paddle Duel against the computer?

No. Paddle Duel is a two-player game for one device: Player 1 controls the top paddle and Player 2 the bottom one, on the keyboard or by touch. The paddles that move by themselves on the start and results screens are only a demo, not a real opponent. There is no online mode, so sit together at one keyboard or share a phone or tablet.

How many points do you need to win Paddle Duel?

The first player to reach 7 points wins the match. There is no win-by-two rule, so at 6–6 the next point decides it, and MATCH POINT appears whenever a player has 6. A match therefore lasts between 7 and 13 points, and there is no timer.

How fast does the ball get in Paddle Duel?

The ball launches at its base speed and gets 7% faster every time a paddle returns it. After 15 returns in one rally it reaches top speed, about 2.6 times the starting speed. Bounces off the side walls do not change the speed, and the ball goes back to its base speed at the start of every point.

How do you aim the ball in Paddle Duel?

The angle depends only on where the ball hits your paddle. A hit in the center sends it straight back, and the closer to the edge you hit, the sharper the angle, up to about 60 degrees. Moving the paddle as you hit adds no spin, so line up the contact point instead of swiping.

Who serves in Paddle Duel?

Nobody has to serve: after each point there is a short pause and a 3-2-1 countdown, then the ball launches by itself from the center. It goes toward Player 2 (bottom) first and then alternates every point, no matter who scored. The launch angle is random, up to 30 degrees to either side, and both players can move during the countdown.

Which side should each player take in Paddle Duel?

Player 1 takes the top half (pink) and Player 2 the bottom half (purple). On a phone or tablet, lay the device flat between you: the top player’s score, POINT! pop-up and DRAG HERE hint are turned upside down so they read correctly from that side. On a computer, Player 1 uses A and D and Player 2 the left and right arrow keys.
