QUICK ANSWER

What is Swerve Strike?

Swerve Strike is a 3D free-kick game for the browser in which you swipe up from the ball to shoot and curve the swipe to bend the ball round defenders into the goal. Each level gives you 6 balls to score from 3 spots, against training dummies, a wall that stands 9.15 m away and later jumps, a sliding defender, glowing target hoops and wind. The keeper runs to where the ball is heading in a straight line, so a shot that swings late beats him. One swipe per kick and levels of a minute or two suit a quick game on a phone or a laptop.

How do you play Swerve Strike?

Put your finger or the mouse near the ball, swipe up towards the goal and let go to shoot. A longer swipe lifts the ball higher, and lifted kicks dip late. Curve the swipe to bend the ball: a swipe that bulges right sends it out right and swings it back left. White dots show only the start of the flight. Each level has 3 spots; a goal moves you to the next. You have 6 balls, and the level ends once fewer balls are left than goals still needed. Saves, blocks, shots wide or over the bar and a missed target hoop each cost a ball.

Tips & strategy

  1. Against a keeper, start the ball towards the middle and bend it into a corner: he runs to its straight line, not the swing.
  2. When the wall jumps, a hard swipe that barely rises keeps the ball low enough to skid under their feet.
  3. To go over the wall, swipe long: lifted kicks carry topspin and drop late, so a high ball can still dip under the bar.
  4. Wind keeps pushing after the dots end. Aim against the arrow by the flag, and more for kicks from far out.
  5. With a sliding defender, watch one full shuffle first, then shoot as he moves away from your line.
  6. Missed twice at one spot? The whistle shows a gold line that scores; you swipe it yourself, and the level caps at 2 stars.

Swerve Strike FAQ

How do you curve the ball in Swerve Strike?

Bend your swipe. The line from where your finger goes down to where it lets go sets direction and height, and how far the swipe bulges sideways sets the spin. A swipe that bulges right starts the ball out right and swings it back left. Full bend moves a 22 m kick about 2.7 m sideways.

Why does the keeper save straight shots in Swerve Strike?

He reads the ball's line a tenth of a second after it leaves your boot and commits to it: after reacting in 0.3 to 0.5 seconds he runs to where that straight line meets his goal. A straight shot goes exactly where he runs. A ball that starts one way and bends the other leaves him at the wrong post.

How do you beat the jumping wall in Swerve Strike?

From level 13 some walls jump the moment you shoot, lifting their feet up to 0.46 m off the grass for just over half a second. That stops most lifted kicks, but a hard swipe that barely rises keeps the ball low enough to skid under them. Bending round the end of the row works too.

What counts as a goal when there is a target hoop in Swerve Strike?

From level 19 a glowing hoop hangs inside the goal at some spots. The ball has to pass through the ring as it crosses the goal line. A ball that goes in anywhere else turns the hoop red and counts as a miss, costing one of the level's 6 balls.

How many balls do you get in a Swerve Strike level?

Six balls for three goals, one from each spot. Every miss costs a ball, and the level ends as soon as fewer balls are left than goals still needed. The spots stay the same when you try again, so a line you found still works. No misses earns 3 stars, up to two misses earns 2.

What does the coach whistle do in Swerve Strike?

After two misses at the same spot a whistle button appears. It draws a gold line of a shot that scores there, and you still have to swipe it yourself, matching the gold dots. With a sliding defender the line lights up when it is the moment to shoot. Using it caps that level at 2 stars.

How does the wind change a kick in Swerve Strike?

Wind arrives on the Bowl Final ground at level 25. The flag by the corner and the arrows at the top left show which way it blows and how hard, from one to three arrows. It pushes the ball sideways for the whole flight, while the white dots show only the start, so aim a little into the wind.
