QUICK ANSWER

What is Couch Trip?

Couch Trip is a 3D driving and delivery game in the browser in which Capybara and Raccoon carry a couch and other furniture in an open pickup bed to customers across 24 jobs. Every bump, crest and rail hit jolts the bed: a hard jolt snaps a strap, loose items slide and can jump over the sides, and fragile pieces like a vase or an aquarium crack. Solo you swap between the two movers, two players can share one keyboard, and par times run from 40 to 110 seconds.

How do you play Couch Trip?

Drive from the depot to the customer's house with the arrow keys or WASD and stop inside the brick drive with the couch still aboard. Bumps, crests and rail hits jolt the bed, so ease off before them: big jolts snap straps and crack fragile items. When the road is blocked, stop, hop out with E and walk over: Capybara shoves rocks and pushes the truck out of mud, Raccoon climbs to tie up low branches, and either one cranks gates, lays bridge planks or hooks the winch on rock faces. Honk with H to move sheep and goats along.

Tips & strategy

  1. Drop to about 30 km/h for washboard bumps: hitting a 9 cm bump at full speed snaps the couch's strap.
  2. Hit jump ramps at a steady 30–40 km/h: slower and the truck drops into the creek, faster than 45 km/h and the landing snaps straps.
  3. Always stop short of a rock, gate or flock: driving into one jolts the whole load like a crash.
  4. Send Raccoon to fetch light items from the road: it walks almost 50% faster than Capybara but lifts only up to 30 kg.
  5. When a strap snaps, tie down at the tailgate before the next bend: loose items slide on hard braking and fast corners.
  6. If things keep jumping out, buy bed rails: the top level raises the sides from 32 to 80 cm.

Couch Trip FAQ

How do you keep the couch from falling off in Couch Trip?

Keep its strap from snapping. A strap breaks when a jolt from a bump, a landing or a crash is stronger than it holds, and the 65 kg couch is among the first to go. A loose couch slides when you brake or corner and can jump the rails on the next big bump, so stop, walk to the tailgate and hold the action key to tie everything down again.

What can Capybara do that Raccoon cannot in Couch Trip?

Capybara is the strong one: only Capybara can shove a boulder off the road or carry heavy things such as the couch, the fridge or the drum kit back to the truck. It also pushes a stuck truck at 1.6 m/s, twice as fast as Raccoon. Raccoon walks faster and is the only mover who can climb up and tie back a low branch.

How do you get a truck out of the mud in Couch Trip?

Carry speed into the mud, because mud brakes hard and the old pickup bogs down once it slows. If the wheels just spin, hop out, stand behind the tailgate and hold the action key: the movers push the truck through at walking pace. The Farm 4x4, the Bigfoot or upgraded tyres drive through on their own.

Why does the truck drop into the creek at the Couch Trip jump?

It reached the lip too slowly. The creek is 5 m wide, and below about 30 km/h the truck cannot reach the far bank, which ends the job. Between 30 and 40 km/h it lands softly; above 45 km/h it clears the gap but the landing snaps straps.

How are stars and pay worked out in Couch Trip?

You get one star for stopping in the customer's drive with the couch aboard, two for delivering every item at 75% condition or better, and three for 90% condition inside the job's par time. Pay adds a delivery fee for what arrives, a care bonus of up to $120 for condition and $2 for every second under par.

How does two-player mode work in Couch Trip?

Switch the title screen to 2 players and each player gets one mover on the same keyboard: Capybara uses WASD, E and Q, Raccoon uses the arrow keys, Enter and /. Whoever sits in the cab drives, so one player can push the truck or crank a gate while the other steers.

Which truck should you buy first in Couch Trip?

Pick it by what keeps going wrong. The Farm 4x4 ($950) pulls through mud and climbs rock faces without the winch, the Classic 50s ($1,200) has much softer springs than the pickup for fragile loads, and the Rally Pickup ($700) is the fastest at 90 km/h. The $400 Kei truck turns tightest but has the smallest bed.
