QUICK ANSWER

What is Witch Broom Dash?

Witch Broom Dash is a 3D flying game for the browser in which you steer a young witch's broom past Halloween obstacles to reach the glowing portal at the end of each level. The broom flies forward by itself, so you only move it left, right, up and down: every three Moon Rings you pass charge a Moon Shield that takes one hit for you, and lanterns grabbed less than 4 seconds apart climb to a ×3 combo. Levels last about 35 to 58 seconds, which makes it an easy pick for a short break.

How do you play Witch Broom Dash?

Your broom flies forward on its own; drag a finger or the mouse anywhere on the screen, or use the arrow keys or WASD, to move it left, right, up and down. Reach the glowing portal at the end of the level with at least one of your 3 hearts left. Bats, cloud banks, pumpkin balloons, cauldrons, stone spires, bells and friendly ghosts each block some of the nine lanes of sky; a hit costs a heart and makes you blink for 1.25 seconds. You score 1 point per metre, 20 for each lantern (times your combo), 75 for each Moon Ring and 30 for a close call. From level 8, crosswinds push you sideways.

Tips & strategy

  1. Change lanes early: with the keys, the broom needs almost a second to cross from the left lane to the right one.
  2. Aim for the dead centre of a Moon Ring: within 0.22 m it is a Perfect Ring worth 25 extra points.
  3. Never leave more than 4 seconds between lanterns: the 5th in a row doubles each pickup, the 10th triples it.
  4. When a crosswind warning shows, steer into the wind before the obstacle; it is almost twice as strong by level 20.
  5. Keep the Moon Shield for the busy end of a level: you hold only one, and rings passed while it is up do not stack.

Witch Broom Dash FAQ

How do you get a Moon Shield in Witch Broom Dash?

Fly through three Moon Rings; the three dots next to the ring icon fill one by one. The shield then glows around the broom and takes the next hit instead of a heart. You can only carry one shield at a time, so after it breaks you start charging again from zero.

What do you need for three stars in a Witch Broom Dash level?

Finish without losing a heart, collect about 80% of the lanterns and pass at least half the Moon Rings. In level 1 that means 10 of 12 lanterns and 2 of 3 rings. Finishing alone gives one star, and about half the lanterns gives two.

How does the Lantern Combo work in Witch Broom Dash?

Each lantern is worth 20 points times a multiplier. Pick up lanterns less than 4 seconds apart and the streak grows: from the 5th one in a row every lantern counts double, from the 10th it counts triple. Wait more than 4 seconds and the multiplier drops back to ×1.

What happens when you hit an obstacle in Witch Broom Dash?

You lose one of your three hearts, unless a Moon Shield is up, which breaks instead. The rider then blinks for 1.25 seconds and cannot be hit again during that time. Hits never take points away, but losing the third heart ends the flight and losing any heart rules out three stars.

How fast does Endless Flight get in Witch Broom Dash?

It starts at 8.2 m/s and speeds up by 0.35 m/s every 30 seconds until it reaches 12.5 m/s after about six minutes. The scenery switches from the village to the forest to the castle every 90 seconds, and each run builds a new random sky. Your best distance and best score are saved separately.

What is a close call in Witch Broom Dash?

A close call is passing an obstacle with a gap of 0.15 to 0.35 metres without touching it. Each one adds 30 points and shows a 'Close call! +30' message, up to three per second. It is a risky way to push your score, because a few centimetres closer and the obstacle costs you a heart.

Do the brooms in Witch Broom Dash change how it flies?

No, they only change the look. The Oak broom is there from the start, the Starry broom opens after you clear level 7 and the Moonlight broom after level 14. You pick one in Settings, and every broom has the same speed, steering and hitbox.
