QUICK ANSWER

What is Pebble Tank Duel?

Pebble Tank Duel is a turn-based artillery game for the browser in which you aim a toy tank, pick a launch power and lob paint shells over hills to empty a rival tank's armor. Each level gives both tanks a shared turn limit of 14 to 18 shots, wind pushes every shell, and craters or Sprout Orb mounds reshape the ground between turns. Duels last a few minutes, so it suits short sessions, and a friend can join on the same screen in Local Duel.

How do you play Pebble Tank Duel?

You and the rival take turns firing. Set the barrel angle from 15° to 78° and the power from 25% to 100%, watch the wind arrow, then press FIRE. You have 12 seconds per turn; when time runs out the shell fires at your current aim. A direct hit with Paint Pod removes 30 armor, and a near miss still splashes for 60% of a shell's damage. Empty the rival's armor to win. If the shared turn limit runs out first, the tank with the larger share of its starting armor wins. New shells unlock at levels 3, 6, 10, 15 and 22, and from level 12 you also carry one Bubble Umbrella.

Tips & strategy

  1. Change one thing per shot: if the shell lands short, keep the angle and add about 5% power until you find the range.
  2. Fire Skip Stone low, around 25°–35°: it only bounces after a gentle landing, and a hit after the bounce adds 80 points.
  3. If the rival keeps hitting you over a low hill, put a Sprout Orb between the tanks: its mound rises up to 1.4 units.
  4. Raise Bubble Umbrella right after a rival shot lands next to you; its 25 points soak the next aimed shot.
  5. In wind above 1.5, use a lower arc: the shell spends less time in the air, so it drifts less than a high lob.

Pebble Tank Duel FAQ

How does wind change a shot in Pebble Tank Duel?

Wind pushes every shell sideways for its whole flight, toward the side the arrow points. The number under the arrow is its strength, from calm up to 2.2 in the late Cloud Circuit levels. Some levels add a wind lane, a striped band in the middle of the field that gives an extra push only while the shell is inside it, so a high lob that crosses the band drifts the most.

What happens when the turn limit runs out in Pebble Tank Duel?

The duel ends and the tank that kept the larger share of its own starting armor wins. Shares are compared instead of raw armor because the rival often starts with less armor than you, so hiding and never shooting does not win. In the campaign an equal share counts as a loss, while Local Duel can end in a draw. Each level allows 14 to 18 shots in total for both tanks, shown under the wind arrow.

What does each special shell do in Pebble Tank Duel?

Skip Stone (24 damage) bounces once if it lands gently. Sprout Orb (18) raises a mound instead of digging a crater. Cloud Pop splits into three pellets of 12 at the top of its arc. Magnet Mint (22) curves toward the rival once it is within 12 units. Soda Rocket (28) flies 15% faster and digs the deepest crater. Each special has two uses per duel, and you bring two of them next to the unlimited Paint Pod.

How does Bubble Umbrella protect your tank in Pebble Tank Duel?

Bubble Umbrella opens at level 12 and can be raised once per duel with the Q key or its chip. It puts a 25-point shield around your tank that takes damage before your armor does. The shield pops when those points are used up or after two rival shots. Raising it spends your whole turn, so you do not fire that round. From level 23 some rivals carry a shield of their own.

What do armor and accuracy have to do with stars in Pebble Tank Duel?

Win the duel for the first star, finish with at least 40% of your armor for the second, and hit with at least half of your shots for the third. Splash damage counts as a hit, and raising Bubble Umbrella is not a shot. All 30 levels give up to three stars, 90 in total, and only your best result per level is saved.

Can two people play Pebble Tank Duel on one device?

Yes, in Local Duel two players take turns on the same screen, each tank with 120 armor and every shell and the shield available, for 20 shots in total. The controls flip to the side of whoever is aiming. It is not online play. On phones narrower than 600 pixels Local Duel stays locked because both tanks would be too small to aim well.
